Product recall notice for customers with egg allergies and sensitivities
To our valued customers,
Today, Grand Central Bakery in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA are recalling U- Bake frozen pie products and frozen pie dough with the expiration dates between 02/01/2025 and 04/20/2025 because they may contain undeclared egg.
We are working closely with the FDA to follow their protocols for a food recall. Here are the main points you need to know:
We discovered this week that some of our U-Bake pie dough products contain trace amounts of undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
So far, neither the FDA nor Grand Central has received a report of any illnesses resulting from the undeclared egg.
The products affected were sold in Grand Central Bakery cafe freezers, and include the following list of products sold between August 1, 2024 and October 20, 2024. Customers can identify them based on the expiration dates listed on the products:
U-Bake Pie Dough, U-Bake Apple Pie, and U-Bake Marionberry Pie products subject to recall are labeled with expiration dates between 02/01/2025 – 04/20/2025.
U-Bake Chicken Pot Pie products subject to recall are labeled with expiration dates between 11/01/2024 – 01/20/2025.
If a customer with an egg allergy or sensitivity discovers they have purchased one of these products, we ask that they contact our GCB café support team at retailfeedback@grandcentralbakery.com or at our website’s contact page https://www.grandcentralbakery.com. Someone will reply to you within 2-5 business days.
We want to extend an apology to all who are living with egg allergies and sensitivities who may have been affected by this error, and want to reassure all of our customers that we are working diligently to identify how this recipe error occurred to ensure it will not happen again.
For those customers who do not have an egg allergy or sensitivity, they can rest assured that they can still enjoy our U-Bake pie dough products with total confidence. We use only farm-fresh eggs from local NW chickens, and their inclusion in our pie dough does not affect the quality or taste.
